Under the direction of Mark Armstrong, NYJO returns to the Spice of Life for a jazz Christmas extravaganza. Listen out for swinging Christmas classics including Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Song and Sleigh Ride, as well as original NYJO takes on carols such as God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) is Britain’s leading ensemble for young people up to 25 playing big-band jazz. Its mission is to perform exceptional music to excite audiences and engage with young people of all backgrounds around the country. In addition to the main performing orchestra, the organisation operates the weekly NYJO Academy comprising several training bands and a vocal ensemble, plus a nationwide series of workshops and educational events intended to inspire children and young people with a love of music and jazz.
