THURSDAY 14th May – NYJO (NATIONAL YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA) directed by MARK ARMSTRONG

NYJO will be warming up for their next album recording with a variety of arrangements old and new, from the modernistic swing of DIZZY GILLESPIE, THE “NEW TESTAMENT” BASIE BAND, THAD JONES AND ROB MCCONNELL to new charts by contemporary UK composers and band members.
Now celebrating its 50th birthday, NYJO features some of the best, most gifted and talented of the next generation of young British jazz musicians. Alumni include Guy Barker, Mark Nightingale and Amy Winehouse as well as a glittering array of the best of British jazz, theatre, film and TV musicians. NYJO celebrates its 50th birthday in fine form with a gig featuring classics from the big band cannon alongside new arrangements by band members and leading composers.
