    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: April 23, 2014 - 11:00 pm
Location: The Spice of Life, Moor Street, London, United Kingdom
Description: TOM GREEN SEPTET - TOM GREEN trombone/compositions, MATTHEW HERD - alto/soprano sax, SAM MILES - tenor sax, JAMES DAVISON trumpet/flugelhorn, SAM JAMES piano, MISHA MULLOV-ABBADO bass & SCOTT CHAPMAN drums. The Tom Green Septet weaves together influences as diverse as Brazilian Choro to New Orleans second line, to form tunes with striking melodies, colourful harmony and propulsive grooves. The group has spent time refining its material through live performances at venues including the Forge, the Stables and Wigmore Hall to create a cohesive and unique group voice. Bringing together some of the most talented young musicians in the London jazz scene, the group creates a distinct sound world using the full range of textures available in the seven-piece ensemble, and has been slowly gaining a strong following and fine reviews since its inception. "I've been involved in jazz for more than 60 years and this is some of the most exciting original new music I have heard for a long time. Tom's writing has complexity, depth and intensity but above all a strong melodic thread… played with fantastic energy and a true band sound" Dame Cleo Laine, June 2013 http://www.tomgreen.org.uk Doors open 6pm, music 8-11pm. £10/£8 advance, students, MU http://www.wegottickets.com/event/266584

Location: The Spice of Life, Moor Street, London, United Kingdom
Description: BEN COX BAND – vocal-led quintet playing standards and original music from the forthcoming album This Waiting Game, "Ben Cox and Jamie Safiruddin. Two of the most vital young musicians to emerge from the UK scene. This truly is a young musical partnership to watch bloom and develop." Ian Shaw
BEN COX vocals, JAMIE SAFIRUDDIN MD/piano, ADAM CHATTERTON trumpet, FLO MOORE bass & WILL GLASER drums
Captivating live, with a beautiful tenor voice (also heard in Vive numerous times at London Jazz Festival) Ben Cox fast gaining a reputation for his tone as well as his delivery, a throwback to the days of Tony Bennett and Chet Baker, but with some beautiful original tunes.
His collaborator and MD is Jamie Safirudden, a pianist of note, who also arranges strings with the like of Paul Heaton and Cherry Ghost. His fine song writing is now coming to the fore, and The Ben Cox Band is where you can hear his latest work, influenced by Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock and James Taylor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-zG_WUtVks Doors open: 6pm, Music 8-11pm £10/£8 MU, student/advance
